It is the goal of the Children’s Museum to ignite a fire within our visitors and students, providing them with the information and knowledge to help protect our natural resources and protect themselves while boating through fun interactive activities, like the Fishing & Boating Exhibit.
Our goals include- Reduction of trash, waste and pollution in our waterways, proper usage of safety devices, life vests and education for required equipment for boating will lead to less drownings, reduction in boating accidents and injuries, navigation education for markers and buoys will lessen the likelihood of accidents and fatalities.

Children will have the opportunity to role play and use hands-on tools as they pretend. Check the oil, top off the fluids and test the engine in our garage center in the Our Town Gallery of the museum.
Read MoreIn our Health Center children will learn about their body systems enjoying interactives involving a healthy heart, digestion and the digestive system sounds, the skeletal system as they ride bike and see how their skeletal system moves, and a test for your brain. Play operation as you try to remove parts without being buzzed. Pretend to be a dentist or a patient at the dentist, or simply test your eyes as you try to locate certain items in the classic I spy game.

They will experience lots of climbing in around and through things, shape recognition and tactile learning. There is also a “Look at Me by the Sea” interactive in which the toddlers can peek through portholes and discover themselves dressed as various seafaring characters.

Welcome Aboard our 16th Century Spanish Galleon. Pack your trunk for a 90 day voyage and see if you have what it takes to sail the high seas. Children will be able to load and fire the cannons while keeping the ship safe from enemies. Learn to navigate through the open seas and chart your course. Don't forget to peak into the Captains Quarters.
At the Our Town Market children will be able to role play shopping for produce, dairy, meats and dry-goods, complete with shopping carts and checkout station. They will also have the opportunity to work in the market as a clerk or cashier. A recycling center will teach what happens to the things we recycle.
